Q:  What activities will you have at the Franconia Family History Fair?
A:  Glad you asked!  Activities include classes on various family history topics; oral history recording booths; a storytelling contest with prizes; potluck refreshments of family recipes; an "indexing" challenge to digitize public records; free consultations with experienced family history experts; and educational games for families. Q:  Where will the Franconia Family History Fair take place?
A:  The Fair will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 6219 Villa St, Alexandria, VA, 22310.  The building is located at the corner of Van Dorn Street and Franconia Road, across the street from Edison High School.

Q:  When will the Fair take place?
A:  The Fair will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2019, and close at 12:00 PM the same day.

Q:  What is the price of admission to the Franconia Family History Fair?
A:  The fair is free.  All of the activities are free.  Light refreshments will be served free of charge.  All of the organizers of the fair are unpaid volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer to help with the fair, please contact us at FranconiaFamilyHistoryFair@gmail.com.

Q:  Will there be childcare at the Fair?
A:  No.  There will be activities designed for families, but a child must be accompanied by an older sibling or a parent or guardian to participate.

Q:  What is the Family History Center?
A:  The Family History Center is located at the south entrance of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 6219 Villa St, Alexandria, VA, 22310.  The Center provides the public with free access to several genealogical websites.  The center has computers, printers, scanners, a microfiche reader, and a copy machine.  Volunteer family history consultants serve at the Family History Center to assist members of the public in searching their family roots.

Q:  Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sponsoring the Franconia Family History Fair?
A:  Simply put, we love family history.  A group of us from a local congregation thought it would be fun to share that love with our community.  We also want our friends and neighbors in the community to know they are always welcome in our church.
